Just been working on the last page of the Shostakovich Fugue. I can't play the first page, so I thought I'd feel more positive if I learnt the last page instead. It's much easier.

What'll you do when it comes to learning the first page again?
I'm still working on the first page, but it's a nightmare of fingering and taking notes into the other hand, and progress can be measured in millimetres. It's where the fugue goes into three parts for the first time, and the cross rhytms are a nightmare.
The rest of the piece seems easy by comparison, so if I can get that learnt, then the first page will seem like a smaller task.

I was not very happy when one of mine had an arm in plaster and the parents just decided he wasn't coming for lessons.
He was only a beginner and there was plenty we could have done even with one arm out of commission.

Some of my order is now out of stock so I'm not quite sure what I'm getting. What did you get, andante?

I got some sax pieces... not all, as some had sold out- at least from the sale. Like you APF, so it was a bit of a surprise package - but nice stuff.

The aforementioned Gaubert, the Reinecke and Jacob concertos, six divertissements by Kuhlau (although the first one claims to be by Karg-Elert inside - obviously a misprint), Airs Valaques by Doppler, Landscapes by Mike Mower and the piano accompniment to Easy Winners.

Chapel Choir practice, lots of fun, getting our pieces ready for Venice!
I cam -so- unnervingly close to getting a harp, I thought I had found the perfect one, a Grecian Erard 19th century, natural finish, restored, and in my price range...
... it sold two weeks ago and they had forgotten to take it off the site! Agh!
That's so sad about your harp Gracewing

But be patient and I'm sure one will come along soon

My musical randomness? Attempting to learn the first variation of Purcell's F major harp...y'know I cannot remember the full name! Anyway, had to attempt to retune the school harp to use it.... wasn't all that sucessful as the levers don't raise the notes properly! Agh!

Not picked a solo for Leeds yet. Quite a few pieces I'd like to do.

At the moment, really, I'm thinking about getting the Leeds finale done. And collecting compositions for the CD. And writing a couple of extra parts for the Leicester finale. And practising my Leicester solo. And finalising the programmes for the Harborough bandstand gig. And thinking about what to bring to MH at the end of February. And practising the recorder for my grade 5.

Chapel service and choir practice today, and a singing masterclass! I'm knackered!
