I don't even know how world-wide ABRSM exams are recognised. I've never actually bothered looking into it, because I care. I live in England, everyone I have taught lives in England, and I studied in England.

I think Guildhall and ABRSM get the same number of university points, if that helps.

Guildhall are a much smaller board than the AB and they don't have anything like as many centres as the AB. If there isn't one near where you live you can end up having to travel up to 30 miles.
However, things are likely to improve because they're in the process of emerging with Trinity. It would certainly help if the Guildhall board published collections of syllabus pieces in the way the AB do.
They do do interesting things, though, and it could be argued that their syllabus is broader than the AB's, which hasn't essentially changed in format for 100 years. Bizarre but true.

I'm a teacher from Australia and have never heard of guildhall. In our large music stores (such as Allans) I have never seen ABSRM books - which is a shame because they are excellent - I've bought a few from the net. Trinity, however is everywhere and music teachers sometimes offer Trinity exams as an alternative to AMEB (Australian Board) because they are easier.
