You know, I don't mind the misplaced apostrophe so much as long as the person
consistently misplaces it: it shows they are working to a rule that they have internalised (albeit incorrectly). What drives me mad is mixed use, frequently seen in markets all over English-speaking countries:
Sock's, boxer's, hats, gloves, tight's etc...
That just shows laziness and a lack of respect for the language - that's what gets my goat up. I don't much care if people make grammatical errors because there isn't really such a thing as 'correct grammar' as a fixed object, it constantly changes. Linguistic disrespect I cannot handle, though...
