I'd say you're definately at a good enough grade!!! From what I've heard a lot depends on charisma, individuality, and maturity.

Hiya!
I think that is all you need, but between now and then you will improve. Grade 8 in flute and piano is amazing, and you have a high chance of being accepted. I don't know whether any GCSE/A Level results count.

For music college grade 8 is a must to even apply (if it's a good music college). If you are lucky enough to get an audition, they'll take the best people, well above grade 8 standard generally.

Music collages say: Grade 8 first instrument, grade 6 second instrument. They do like you to have keyboard skills. It does also depend on which college you want to go to and how well you do in your grade 8:) This is just a guideling, they will really want you to be much above grade 8 for most colleges, especially the good ones.

A lot of music colleges in the UK have JUNIOR colleges. You have to be amazing to impress the judges! I don't think I stand a chance of getting into the SENIOR department. I'm around Grade 7 on the violin and grade 7 on the piano. i've done grade 5 theory. how do you guys think i would do?

my teacher told me you need a distinction at grade 8 to get an interview

Just wanted to say that Ive just finished a BA(hons) in music with a 2:1 and I had grade 5 piano and grade 6 theory before I started.
It depends on the place you want to get into. If you want to study classical then the grades are essential but jazz or pop generally are more about raw talent and individuality than grade exams.

that might be true for some, but it's definitely not true for Guildhall, RCM, RAM or RNCM, so either your teacher is talking about Trinity or something, or they've made a mistake.
