this is on the dip syllabus and my teacher said to me 2 get the sheet music and have a look at it while shes away - on holiday till next week
so i got it last week and have sight read it a few times not practised it yet - it seems technically quite easy for dip - altho its a really beautiful piece.
what does everyone else think about it ?

Personally, I don't know the piece....
But i have the music!! It is in a book called "Mozart Masterpieces for Solo Piano"
Anyway.... a quick look doesn't seem that hard atall, and it is on the Dip Syllabus??
Comparing it to a grade 8 piece, E.g the Haydn in List B (the one in the book), the Mozart looks much easier!

This piece is also contained in the ABRSM first series Grade 7 keyboard anthology which I believe means that someone with Grade 7 capabilities should be able to play the piece to examination standards.
Very nice music. Lots of drama and a real feel of Mozart's true strength: Opera!

Not a technically demanding piece but lots of interpretation required though - lots of pathos.

One of my favourites - I'm also learning to play it. I recently went to see Mitsuko Uchida who played it brilliantly. Try to listen to her recording! My teacher said it was one of the easier pieces from the dip. syllabus.

Really, it's interpretation which is difficult - I think in diplomas, note mastery is expected, and it's interpretation that they're looking for. It's mainly technically easy, but it's one of the most tragic pieces Mozart wrote, in my opinion. Gorgeous piece - good luck with playing it!

I agree with the other comments - beautiful piece

note-wise not too tricky, but I always believe it is more difficult to play slower pieces really well. Every note is far more open to scrutiny than in a fast piece where notes are whizzing past at 100mph

- you really have to think far more carefully about expression and of every note being totally accurate in terms of dynamic/gradation/placing etc
