I want to know what grade everyone would say Chopin's nocturne op9-2 , and the minuit waltz is.

The nocturne is, I believe, grade 8.....and the Minute Waltz a bit harder, especially to play up to speed.....

If it's the Eb one then I would say grades 6-7 (that's when I played it), think we had this discussion a couple of weeks ago. The Minute Waltz I would say dipABRSM possibly.

I would probably agree with the Eb, but the minute waltz? I would never have though it would be dipABRSM, as I heard it played by a grade 7 pianist, so i doubt it would be that difficult
But, there are probably things, which i haven't seen which make it more complex

Again, agree with Eb Nocturne, but I dont think Minute waltz is Dip either. A friend of mine played it perfectly at this concert a few years ago and she was about to take grade 7...then again, she was probably well above that standard as she has passed every exam with distinction and got grade 8 aged about 12 ph34r.gif

I would have thought both would be below DipABRSM standard. Possibly Grades 7-8.

I thought the minute waltz was harder because when I was grade 7-8 standard I couldn't do it justice! However, I was playing Fantasie Impromptu in public which I found easier, maybe it's my musical nemesis laugh.gif

I agree , I can play the minute waltz now...
As for the Eb nocturne , one of my friends , grade 7 , played it in a concert , and it was splendid...

With practice, you can play the minute waltz at around grade 6, even up to speed. It's not too difficult, just fast like The Flight of the Bumblebee. However, some people will struggle with it not because they're bad at the piano, just because it doesn't suit their style too well.

I thought so... I can play both of theem, and I'm g6 standard
