My name is Laura,
Let me introduce myself,
I am only at a young age (12).
I am in my first year of secondry school, nearly in my second year.
I have been dancing Tap and Modern since the age of three.
Over the last few years I have been doing drama and have started a new dance school which does street and jazz.
There is only one thing I want to be and that is a dancer in the West End shows in London. (that is my only dream)
I feel I need some advise of someone who is as interested in dance as me, but a bit older than me who can give me a rough guide of what qualifications I need to get there.
thanks for your time
Laura

Hi Laura, I don't know the answer to your question, but I just wanted to wish you luck. You sound very determined, and that will go a long way in helping you achieve your dream.

I love musicals tongue.gif

what you're doing laura sounds really cool! you must be pretty good at dancing! smile.gif

perhaps after sixth form, you should aim for going to all these dance academies, RADA (Royal Academy of Dance), Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, or even a stage school! i think that you can do GSCEs in Dance, i don't know! i'm not really a dance expert though, but i love dancing just for the fun! and i love musicals too! good luck for the future though! smile.gif

Are you able to do a dance GCSE at your school? If you don't know go and ask your head of PE department, they'll know. I think in GCSE dance you mainly do contempory dancing, but it would help you and look good for when you apply for colleges and universitys.

Usefull qualifications are from the "united kingdom alliance" when i did my gold ballroom exams and my latin american as well they are always recognised and they can be done all over england and i think are also recognised in europe and places like that... I think they do exams in tap and drama as well. they definately examin ballroom, latin, ballet, freestyle (and some drama i think.)

Is this any use?

Dear All,

As interesting as this topic is, I'm afraid that it now has to be closed as it does not relate to Jazz music.

It's great to hear that you've all got so many interests though. If you wish to continue this discussion off-forum, please use the PM buttons at the bottom of members postings to send them a private email.

Best regards
