All my pupils passed their exams this session, but one particular girl deserves particular mention. She wants to be a primary teacher when she leaves school and thinks the piano will be useful. She and her sister are both particularly nervous in exam situations and, although they have taken exams on other instruments, they have not had much success. When they came to me a few months ago for piano lessons, they were really nervous, the younger one actually bursting into tears while I was teaching her (I'm really not that frightening ). Well, the younger one passed her exam (quite well), and the older girl got a merit. This was as hard for these two girls as a distinction is for most other children and I am so proud of them ... they worked so hard and they deserve recognition.

Puts into perspective those who quibble over high marks. This type of thing makes it all worth while.

Well done nannyjay! I have had some like that where getting 103 or 104 has been such an achievement and I find it just as satisfying as the high flyers.

Well done Nannyjay. You've just proved my point that the value of exam results depends on the candidates, their particular challenges, and how much they and you have worked to achieve their result.
