Hey funny you should say that, I have had my Gershwin cd in my player for the last few days. I do enjoy listening to the music, I think the preludes would be too difiicult for me to play but they are so interesting, especially rhythmically. smile.gif I think the first and third must be at least grade 8 standard but I haven't seen the sheet music.

I love the preludes, although I can't play the 2nd one because of the giant left hand span! I think they've come up on grade 8 lists before as well as dipABRSM and equivalent.

I adore his piano concerto as well wub.gif

I have a Music Minus One copy of Rhapsody in Blue, I enjoy playing it along with the orchestra from the comfort of my own home! biggrin.gif

The three preludes were originally in the old diploma syllabus for the DipABRSM. You were given the option to play any two of the three preludes.

I performed Numbers 1 and 2 for my Advanced Certicate (similar to DipABRSM) in 1998. They were really fun pieces to learn and play. Number 2 has some wide stretches and the middle section really got my brain working hard at first. Try it, you'll see what I mean.

I seem to recall that the 2nd Gershwin prelude was set for grade 7 piano ABRSM probably around the mid to late 1970s. Don't know about the other 2 I would think they are aroung grade 8 to dip;oma level to really bring them off.
