At the moment, I have 2(top& bottom) plates in my mouth, but the Outhodontist said they are going to put propor metal braces in in several months time I think the metal braces are going to hurt for a week or two. Am I right?

Not for two weeks...well they didn't for me. When they first get fitted, and each time they are tightened, your teeth will feel tender (i.e. they will hurt when you try to eat)...brace wax and painkillers help if it gets really bad...but after 2 or 3 days the pain goes away as your teeth 'settle down' again.
What do you mean by plates? I only ever had a removable brace before my fixed one.

Yep, you are right, they do hurt after a few days, but you should get used to them after a while.
The fixed braces will hurt after every orthodontist appointment as the dentist does replace the brace every time (I think that's what they do) and your teeth feel 'stiffer'.

Plates looke like this.Well,　it's not exactly what I have, but thats the closest image I can get.
Thats the top part. You turn a notch it every week, and a gap makes the plate wider, so then your jaw gets more room for the teeth.
My jaw is too small, so the front teeth are a problem, and the canine teeth might be taken out

How many times do you go? I might have to get braces. Well, the dentist said I have a choice because my teeth aren't so bad but then I thought if the choice is open to me it means that my teeth must be a little wonky! 
If you have to go every week stuff braces.

I used to wear one of these too - I remember having to turn the notch ever so often...
Those don't hurt! I've had those! I've had traintracks and people said they hurt especially when they are tightened but i didn't feel any pain at all during my braces. I have a retainer now (a wire behind my teeth)
Nah, doesn't hurt as such - just uncomfortable around the adjustment (every 4-6 weeks). You do need to adopt a creative attitude towards your cleaning routine though - flossing is a bit more of an effort!
The worst thing I found was the period where I had to put the rubber bands between top and bottom jaw - found that caused quite an ache.
Worth it in the long run? On balance, yes!
