I am in the process of choosing my pieces for grade 5 violin, with Trinity. I have chosen my A piece and C piece which are:

VIVALDI - 2nd movement (Allemanda) from Sonata in B minor, op. 5 no. 4
MASCAGNI - Intermezzo

For my B piece it is between:

GRIEG - Einsamer Wanderer (no. 2 of Lyric Pieces op. 43)
YOUMANS - Tea for Two
MARTINI-KREISLER - Andantino

Is anyone playing any of these pieces, or perhaps you have in the past? I have the pieces, but just not sure what to go for. I have ordered the CD but it's not coming for a few weeks. I quite fancy the Tea for Two, but then the other two are nice too! Decisions, decisions. Anyway, if anyone has played any of these and has any advice, let me know.

tea for two would be a nice fun foil to the other two pieces wouldn't it?

That said, I have a bit of a soft spot for Grieg...

Yes, me too! biggrin.gif I have just had a go at the Grieg (after listening online to some midi files) and it is actually really quite nice and I think it might win over the other two. It will make a change to the allegro paced Vivaldi piece.

While I'm here, I have noticed that my playing feels easier now, I mean, my bow is easier to control, if that makes sense? It feels lighter - it feels good when playing something fast for example.

How's your music going Meerkat?

I think the Grieg was originally written for piano wasn't it? If it was me, I would choose something that was intended for violin, if any of them are smile.gif

Yeah, good point! I'm not sure what to go for, keep changing my mind. But will probably stick with the Grieg, just because I was enjoying it yesterday.
