And......I got 80!! Merit! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif smile.gif
I know it's quite bad but....I was only hoping for a pass. Grade 6 is not soooo bad after all. Grade 7 seems to be easier. Hopefully I can get distinction. *just hoping* tongue.gif

I just sat for my grade 7 piano....
I got this woman examiner, she a recorder player. Her name is Joan something. Sorry, I forgot. All went well until the sight-reading!!I killed it! Most of my flats were missing, my rhythm was out and there was no expression at all. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif Then at the aurul part, as usual, I can't sing. She asked me to sight sing another time, but I still gave the same result. I really made a fool of myself. Anyone got her before as an examiner?

I'm doing my grade 5 theory next session. How likely are you to get a transposition from or into F (for horn i F or cor anglais)? I was just wondering because this is the only one of the transpositions that I struggle on. Any help would be really great.

Thanx,

purple dolphin

P.S Well done on your theory!
tzl_tzl
Compare to the nearest C note(except cor anglais[perfect 5th down] and a few others). That will tell you what transposition it is.

NOTE: All horns transpose DOWN.

1st: Determine interval of transposition.(eg. perfect 5th down)
2nd: Count the interval as in 5th or 2nd.(eg. count a 5th down for all the notes)
3rd: Draw a keyboard and count semitones.[eg. count 7 semitones down](hint: count semitones for those with accidentals only)

P/s: don't forget about key signature.

At grade 5 you will be given the interval and direction of transposition.

Grade 6 andup you have to know them... won't even be given a clue ohmy.gif
