Charlies Aunt
Dear Freddy
I have it on good authority that you are an emminent physician. Therefore, please could you give me some tips on how to survive hibernation throughout the winter months. Due to personal goings on and children failing piano exams, I feel this is my only course of action- and I really need to SLEEP!!! dry.gif sad.gif

Therefore how many of the following should I take with me?:
Flasks of tea
Bars of Milky Bar Chocolate
Pairs of socks
Pyjamas
Hats and gloves
Beethoven CDs, books and sheet music
Earplugs and blindfolds.

many thanks biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Do speak to your GP about it if it is getting troublesome. My advice is no substitute for that.

General advice:

You should toss the flasks of tea and milky bar chocolates away! *or give them to a willing forum member*
Make sure the Beethoven CDs you play are 'calm and peaceful' works and not the Emperor Concerto!!!
Stress is also a common culprit - if you can minimise it as much as possible or come up with a strategy to cope with it, so much the better.

You wear a hat and gloves to bed?!? unsure.gif

Edit: This is not 'medical' advice but an electric blanket works wonders in winter! I wish I got one years ago.....!

Charles, I can sympathise: hibernation seems like a really good idea at the moment rolleyes.gif

Somewhere on the site are a few threads posted by people lacking in sleep, and the many hints and tips that people have found useful... a search on "insomnia" and/or one on "sleep" would probably throw up a couple. I'd attempt to find them myself but I'm afraid the search page is only equaled in slowness at the moment by my poor tired brain cell...

Hello Mushroom! I knew I was in good company!! What colour is your hat? Mine is pink and yellow like Mr Blobby. Doesn't make me itch though-talk to your mum about fabric conditioner. Comfort works well for me!!!!!! biggrin.gif blink.gif

I have never resorted to wearing a hat in bed in hospital as they're heated, but certainly in a sleeping-bag on a windy campsite, the woolly hat yes. But that's because its cold. Current model is very pink, with ear flaps.
