Ah well you see, on that front, miss Floot has been 'advising' me...(ahem) and it looks like the violin might actually stay. It just won't be primary instrument any more and will get practise thrown at it as and when.

Ah, you know, I'm glad to hear that. I didn't want to rain on your excitement about the cello, so haven't said anything, but I had hoped you'd revise your decision to kick the violin altogether. I worried you'd regret it at some point.

I did have a flute for a very short time (about three weeks, gave it up when I realised Poulenc wasn't going to happen the second I picked up and was worried about staying the violent shade of purple I turned every time I managed to get the thing to make a noise).

Erm... would this be because you actually DID encourage me to buy a fife (after rather embarassingly sending me a picture of one because I had never heard the English word before and then realising when I saw the pic that the object in question is called a 'fifre' in French... how I didn't make the link I don't know) and then give me advice on whether a closed or open hole flute was better????????
