Full Version: Special Requests On Online Entries?

Another random question. I remember once before putting in a special request on an exam entry as the accompanist for the exam had limited availablity.

Anyone done this when entering online? I can't work out anywhere in the form that I can put it.

In my limited experience although they can't guarantee stuff like that they seem to do their best. Before now, I've just put a letter in with the printed form.

Anyone done that for online entries, & how?

Thanks smile.gif

I entered my candidates online for the first time last session, having stuck to the pen-and-paper method until then. I'm pretty sure that I gave a couple of options for dates in a note somewhere on that last entry, but I'm not sure where. If you can't find anywhere, you could always email the Board (giving your applicant number etc) and ask them to link the message to your entry. smile.gif

OK Jo, thanks! - did they honour your requests OK?

I shall have another squizz at the form!

Yes, they did. As you said, they are usually very obliging!

Brilliant smile.gif - first job will be to ring up on Monday and check which weeks they're using. Yes, they've always been helpful before!

Thanks Jo!

I think that you can email after you put in your entry with anything that there isn't room for on the form.
You will get an email once your entry goes in.... I think if you reply to that it should link the 2.

Yes, I always send an email after I put the entries in, quoting the online application number they give and my applicants' number. It seems to work pretty well.

I have sent an email after entering online and they have always accommodated my request.

Didn't work for me. I'll be entering by paper next time...

If you want an early date, all you need to do is put the last available date on the online form.

It's also trying to accomodate an accompanist! Was OK last time though (though that was a "paper" entry)

Benjaminja: what did you request that you didn't get? unsure.gif

Thanks once again for your help, folks smile.gif

I asked for a Saturday exam. I'm surprised this isn't an option on the form. Not being able to request weekend exams basically means a large proportion of adult learners will be precluded from taking exams, in my opinion.

Not all centres have Saturday exams - our local one doesn't (except for theory)

I reckon that if they had an option for Saturday exams they would be absolutely swamped with people wanting them, and that's why they DON'T have it! For the majority of parents of the younger pupils (who need to be taken to exams rather than going under their own steam) a Saturday would be far more convenient, since both parents usually work during the week.

Having said that, as teacher, accompanist and Special Visit 'host' I certainly WOULDN'T request Saturdays for our exams, even if that was an option. I work hard with my pupils during the week, but I want to do my own musical things at weekends! smile.gif

Hi Sarah-Flute

I emailed the regional ABRSM centre about special requests which couldn't be expressed in the online exam form. They told me to send them an email "at the time of the online entry" with the special request.

Hope this helps.
