So before you go on your holidays how do you prepare!

I going on Thursday YAY - took today and tomorrow off work as well so i can prepare!

I have my hair done about 2 weeks before, just had a fake tan (if i remembered i'd keep the sunbeds up but always forget!), have nails done, buy new make-up, hair stuff a day before, pack my best clothes, listen to my favourite tunes on my "holiday compliation" in my car, say goodbye to my car, buy a load of tacky magazines in the airport and then get excited because i'm going on HOLIDAY!!!

I love the whole pre-holiday thing, does everyone else? The best jounrny is the one to the airport in the middle of night with no traffic on the road!!! ###### i even like the wait in the airport!!

I think i need to appoint myself as the forums Queen of Holidays!!!!!!!!!

Me too.
And I leave that as late as I can.

I usually don't bother with hair or tanning...I tan easily anyway ph34r.gif

I always buy new makeup/hair stuff/beauty stuff a couple of days before...treat myself to a couple of new books and cds...charge up batteries for cd player....charge up phone....get money ready...

I hate planes, but I love the car journeys to the airport!! laugh.gif

Have fun Nicia! Where are you going?
katyjay
I ask Misterjay where we're going and if he's seen my passport.

And then I re-pack the suitcase taking out the superfluous stuff he's put in it and folding the essentials so that they fit.

And then we go.

Sounds like me.
We both pack our own cases though.

Mr*piano merely arrives at destination and thinks how nice it is that everything he needs has miraculously appeared too in his suitcase... I think he thinks there are suitcase packing fairies... dry.gif

If I leave it to Misterjay, we end up with disasters like the squashed-suncream-bottle-and-walking-boots mess earlier this year.

I'm afraid I don't do any preparations of any kind except packing the suitcase just before leaving... blink.gif
Is it that bad?! ohmy.gif

I'm going to Samos, Greece for a week if work'll let me i'm then going on to Palermo (Sicily - to see family) They still haven't got back to me on this one though!!

I tan well (Italian!) but for that first day or so nice to have a good base colour, or am i just being a typical shallow Italian?!

About 5 months before going we usually start training 3 times a week.
About a month before we remember that our skiis need servicing and go into a mad panic to get them done in time.
Two weeks before we comb the shops for sunblock ("we don't sell that in winter love- why would you want that ?")
The week before we drive a 600 mile trip to leave the cat with the in-laws.

.....er.....
I blag some time off, depending on who else wants hols
Husband ditto
he sorts out any booking of transport, accommodation, and money, unless we're going to my folks', in which case, I do
I sort out travel documentation including passports, and all the laundry needed beforehand
I organise family medication - have to request any prescriptions the week before
Last time I had to organise letters about meds as well ph34r.gif , and get the European medical card thingies
I try to corrall kids into putting together what they need to pack
I pack for self, then pack the stuff the kids actually need
I get husband to pack for himself
Don't forget to put out the last binbag, and empty the fridge of things which would go green and hairy by the time we got back...ecchhh, and the compost bucket
Inform those who need to know here that we're going

and go. blink.gif sad.gif huh.gif

Oh, and everything in reverse for the way home.
Call that a holiday....

I'm prepared in that clothes are washed ready for packing but I don't pack until the last minute. I have been known to pack my own case on the morning of the holiday when we were leaving at 5.30 in the morning! Less chance of forgetting things, thinking you've packed something but haven't or having to fish something out of case to use & then forgetting to return it. Hubby is responsible for packing his own case. It's then not my fault when he arrives at our destination to discover no swimming trunks or pants! I pack joint items and kids stuff.
