Is there any one else doing this piece? How do you find it? I choose one of the other C list pieces but nopw am tempted by this one.

I have one question though, as it is written it looks loke the right and left hand play the notes together, is that correct or does the right hand mostly stay where it is and the left hand plays the melody on its own?

Just want to clarify this before I suggest to my teacher about learning this one instead...

Thanks

The Lh Plays the melody, although its not very exciting, and the right hand plays the rest. When it looks like both hands play it, only the left hand does, and with accents aswell so that you can here the melody. (same when theres 2 notes.

Also in bar 28, The left hand plays the nothes with stems going down and vice verca

Hope it helps!

Yes the left hand plays the 1st, 4th and 7th semiquaver beats.

I love this piece! The melody is repetitive, but you can use careful dynamics and accents to build suspense and make it exciting. It's bit like the way Ravel's "Bolero" gets more intense as it progresses, yet the main theme is recurring.

Great fun to play!

ooooh I LOVE this piece!!

What I do id play all of the notes with the stems pointing down with the left hand and the ones with the stems pointing upwards with the righthand, and when both RH and LH are supposed to play the same note i basically just press the key with both fingers smile.gif

Where do both RH and LH play the same note? Sorry if that's a silly question I just can't find it on the sheet music!

In the first bar both hands are plaaying a G below middle C .... I didnt have the music infornt of me when i wrote what i did before so it really doesn't make much sense. Basically inthe first two bars and whenever that phrase comes up again ( I think in bar 33) i play the 1st, 4th and 7th beats with both hands. It helps me be able to accent those notes.

Oh yes I see what you mean! I don't play those with both hands which is why I wondered. No reason why you can't though smile.gif

When I was at the new syllabus seminar we were advised to tell students NOT to swap fingers as the music suggests. Just use finger 3. Memorise the final section when the scales start - easy to do - one octave of C major, one of Db major, X 2, then the last bit just repeats itself. It's a great fun piece and I am recommending it to most of my potential gr 6 pupils.

Glad to see that memorising the last bit is being advised - this is what i have done and am taking G6 this term. Although I do swap fingers. Seems to help me keep it speedy and each note separate instead of 'smudging'. I play the 1st, 4th, 7th notes LH only, but that's just my personal preference. smile.gif

To take over this post and use it to my advantage - Does anyone have any tips on a) how to practice it? (I'm basically just going through and through and then will sometimes do the last bit and cool.gif Advice on how to get extra dynamics. Mine are a bit weak at the mo! unsure.gif

A bit different to the rest, though and fun, too!! tongue.gif
