i am now working on the first movement of mozart clarinet concerto and finding it really difficult to tounge on the semi-quavers because it is so fast. how do i tounge faster or do i do double tounging in the piece?

I remember vaugely being told to allow your tounge to 'bounce' off the reed for faster and easier tounging....

Make sure that your tounge is in the right position and that it is the right bit of it that is touching the reed. Start slowly and increase your speed.

smile.gif Sorry to be cheeky folks, but the correct spelling is "tongue". When I began to teach I realised that the parents would be reading their childrens' note books like hawks so I tried to make sure that I used correct spellings. Tongue was a word that I wrote often.

.....and I'll add that the right position and 'right bit of the tongue' will slightly vary from person to person. Experiment to see which part of your tongue is the most effective for you, and on which part of the reed you find easiest to tongue on.

yeah, I agree with Barry. Experiment and ask your teacher for help if you get stuck.
