I am in total shock. I heard about it 3 hours or so again (it was on the breaking news here) and I still can't believe it. He's really well known here, I live about 3 hours north of his zoo and have been to his zoo quite a few times. My uncle was friends with him, and none of us can quite believe it.
Rest in Peace Steve Irwin, you will never be forgotten!!!!

He knew his stuff when it came to animals - his programmes were often shown on Sunday lunchtimes here.
What a shame.

He had the ability to make my children sit and watch nature programmes.
Such a loss.

This is a real shame. Steve was a great character, and a genuinely nice bloke. I know he'll be missed and my thoughts are with his family and friends.

It is a real shame about his death, but at least he died doing something he loves and is so enthusiastic about.

Oh... so that's what all those tutles on my messanger contact list are. It's so shocking... i didn't hear the news until after I got back from school. At first I though my sister was pulling my leg.

We'll really miss him...

I still haven't gotten over it. He used to be a huge idol and to think he died just like that. I cried when I found out. Love you Steve for ever and ever

I come home from Edinburgh Monday evening, first thing I hear "Steve Irwin's died"
It was such a shock I thought it was actually a joke, but unfortunately not

He was one of the few people who really inspired me into studying Biology
He'll be sorely missed, and condolences to Terri and their 2 children

When this guy at school told us that Steve Irwin had died everyone thought he was joking. He just seemed so invincible like nothing could ever happen to him. Over here in Australia there have tribute shows on the T.V for him. So sad.

Yes, along with the debate over whether or not it will be a state funeral (or maybe that's just Queensland). at this stage more than likely no state funeral!
