Have any of you done an exam with no professional teaching? What grade did you get?

I've taught my self piano for about 3 years (I'm now 14). I know I started quite old considering but I've doing alright. I used to teach my self just general stuff but now I'm interesting in taking exams. I've bought a load of books and I'm starting low (grade 2) but I'm not sure about being actually entered into exams. I want a teacher but it's too expensive (if anyone is Sutton Cldfield wants to give me cheap lessons I'd be very happy!). I'm thinking about teaching myself all the stuff then having a teacher for a couple of months just to fill the gaps.
