OK. I think the other thread's got unweildy, so I'm starting a new one.

Here's the final (ish) arrangement.

We'll meet on 26th Nov, in Market Harborough. This will be another 'come and play' day - not a concert.

Time and venue will be announced soon.
barry-clari
Oops, just seen this thread after posting in the other thread, so this is a slight dual post......

Would people like me to being some Christmassy pieces to this playing day? smile.gif

Oooohh...Yes please IPB Image

I noticed that you were having some problems finding a venue for a concert.
I might have a suitable location, I work at a school and one of the halls has a Really nice Broadwood Grand. It also has a stage and ample area for seating, and includes practive rooms.
They normally only do evening bookings during the week, I'm trying to find out if they have anything during the weekend. As an alternative they have another hall also with a stage and plenty of rooms but it only has an old upright piano in it. The second hall is available anytime.
They've told me the cost will be about £15-£20 per hour.

Oh and it's in Northampton, so not far away from Harborough.

What do you think? Do you want me to find out more?

I'm definitely coming - and it's just occurred to me that I can bring Chinatown and Liberty Bell which we did at the last two general Forums concerts, as I had arranged them to include Bb instruments and violas. Also there's the Krakowiak which we'll be doing at next Saturday's concert. smile.gif

Could you look into it, McMan? I think it's too late now to try to pull things together for 26 Nov, but perhaps for the May concert? Although, I think that the methodist church in harborough will be available in may, with a nice steinway and even an organ, should Mr B decide to grace us with his presence!

I won't be able to come - all being well I'll be in Israel!! - but hope it goes well biggrin.gif

I wasn't a forum member when you played Chinatown - would certainly love to have a go at that (and reprise the other two pieces!) biggrin.gif

I won't be able to make it. I hope you have a great time.

P.S. Sorry Nicki! No alto flute!!

I am considering coming as well - hopefully it won't clash too much with mock exams and stuff. I'll have a think about it and post back later smile.gif.

Hi,

Jo reminded me about this today.

I would be interested in coming. I do have two 3000 word essays due at around that time though, so it will be dependent on them.

Can I let you know closer to the time?

meerkat
Sure that's fine, A.

Finally....some photos from the last get together. A selection of people getting ready (I think) for the grade one challenge on instruments other than their own!

Oh crikey, I look AWFUL!

Can't do grade 1 on alto flutey sad.gif

No video as yet.
jo.clarinet
meerkat - have you decided yet whether this is an afternoon get-together like the last one, or whether we're going to start earlier? I just need to know so that I can be poised ready to buy cheap train tickets! smile.gif
barry-clari
I had a text from meerkat today - unfortunately she's got computer problems at the moment.... sad.gif

Just to confirm that the Harborough gathering is still on for 26th November - time and venue to follow.

I'll write an attendance list a la CD recording thread if you can sign in here. smile.gif

katyjay
I'm in. Recorder, violin, voice smile.gif
SaxFan
Can't say if I can make it yet -
sorry but it depends on other things going on (possibly) at the same time sad.gif different place huh.gif
barry-clari
As far as I can see reading the two threads, the list of attendees is:

meerkat : 'cello
barry-clari : clarinet; recorders
jo.clarinet : clarinet; recorders
janexxx : violin
katyjay : violin; recorders; voice
willobie : viola; recorders
nicki_flute : flute

and as far as I can see, that is it at the moment. Willobie/Nicki, can you both confirm that 26/11 is OK please? smile.gif

Oh, sorry, it's fine

I think SaxFan is thinking of coming, but it depends on something else, and he might bring some other people smile.gif

Who came last time?

Who came last time?

I'm sure I'll forget someone, but hillyb (who I know can't do 26/11), Felix, Saxfan, clarkey and friends and bassoon (think that was his username smile.gif ) also came last time. New attendee-wise, Nicia and CE have shown interest in coming.

I'm waiting for meerkat to give me the start time, then I'll book my train tickets and I'll be all set! biggrin.gif
jo.clarinet
I think Pollyanna may be interested - we spoke about it yesterday at SRP - and also Jackiekay and Kieran (two of my adult learners). But we all need to know the times before we can book our train tickets, and the cheaper ones are going fast...... sad.gif

I shall be brief - I'm just about staying awake!.....

The hall has been booked from 1:30 'til 5:30pm, so people who need to can now book appropriate train tickets. smile.gif

Thank you for the attendance info willobie/Jo. smile.gif

Now I think it's time to go to sleep.....
meerkat
Thanks Barry!!!

Sorry everyone, I'm having terrible trouble with my home net at the moment. I'm trying to shift providers now, so hopefully things will improve soon! In the meantime, I'll try to get onto the net while at work, every few days, just to check if there are any queries (but it's often a bit tricky getting online at work too).

I've booked the same hall as last time, for a bit longer (1.30 - 17.30). I couldn't get it earlier as it's in use by the church in the morning. I could book it a bit longer at the end of the day, if people would like that?

Best wishes
Jane
jo.clarinet
I booked my tickets this morning - due to arrive in MH at 12.25 (the next one would have been to tight time-wise, especially as there might be delays on a Sunday) and catching the train back to London at 18.32 (again, it would have been pushing it to try for the one before), so I'm up for playing a little longer than 5.30 if we're able to! But if we have to be out by then, I think I could *just* about force myself to go to the local pub for a drink afterwards, as some of us did last time... tongue.gif
nicki_flute
I can get a train from 12.53, arriving in Market Harborough at 1.07?
meerkat
I can do the 'meet at the station and ferry' thing again. I'll get to the station at 1.15.

That would be good smile.gif
jo.clarinet
I think we'll probably walk as we're getting there so early - the station's only about 10 minutes from the hall - if it's a nice day we can have a wander round, if rainy - well, there's always the pub laugh.gif
meerkat
The pub seems to be looming very large in your travel plans jo.... tongue.gif

I would like to come too. Will bring recorders [descant, alto, tenor and bass]. Would love to sing, if poss. Soprano voice.

Thanks, Pollyanna

Looks like I'd better dig out something choral..... laugh.gif

I'll see what I can do.

I'm thinking of coming too, but won't be sure until slightly nearer the date. Flute, recorders and possibly a voice. ohmy.gif

Aw, this is going to be great! I'm so excited!

Katyjay, I could probably bring some copies of carols for choirs with me, if that would be any good. I could pilfer my choral society's set (the joys of being librarian...) for a few hours.

I'll add tenor to the list. I shall leave it up to you which saxes you want to bring on the day (if you are able to make it). smile.gif

And I really should have said on an earlier post (sorry), but welcome to the forum Pollyanna! smile.gif
meerkat
Mine does that all the time, Barry. Wanadon't indeed. I'm in the process of changing now.

Looking at the line up, we could really do with a bit more bass couldn't we? Didn't saxfan say he might make it (hopefully with that lovely low sax he had last time).
I wonder if there's any chance of Phillip Bassoon joining us?
SaxFan
I have been trying to get a Trombone to slide along...
but I don't know what he's doing that Sunday yet.

I'll try to let you know as soon as poss.
