I have been trying to get a Trombone to slide along...

I've had a sift through my music today - am thinking of bringing some arrangements of various carols (In Dulci Jubilo and the Zither Carol amongst them), also possibly an arrangement of the Twelve Days of Christmas and one or two 'non-Winter/Christmas' pieces. All for flexible ensemble. How does this sound to people? smile.gif
jo.clarinet
Yay, that'll be great! smile.gif
nicki_flute
Sounds fantastic!

Have just tried to book train tickets, chose the necessary timings, then it came up with an error message...unsure.gif

If you're having trouble booking tickets CE, many major rail stations'll do it for you. smile.gif

OK, here's the list of pieces I'm bringing! biggrin.gif

In Dulci Jubilo; Zither Carol; Go, Tell it on the Mountain; Ding Dong Merrily on High; Little Drummer Boy; The Twelve Days of Christmas; Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy; English Sword Dance Suite.

Should hopefully keep us going! smile.gif
nicki_flute
Looks good to me!
meerkat
That sounds fab, Barry.

It sounded pretty good to me too - not too heavy and I've just bought "Little Drummer Boy" at a second-hand sheet music shop, so please may I come too? wink.gif smile.gif

The more the merrier, I'd say! smile.gif - it'd be good to see you there!

Is there any update on who is coming on the 26th? Looking at the list a couple of pages back, it doesn't seem like there are very many of us this time - and we seem to have no bassoons or oboes sad.gif . Anyone who is interested but hesitating should 'go for it' and come along - the last one was great fun!

Katyjay, are we doing some choral stuff too? smile.gif
katyjay
I'll certainly fish out a couple of things to sing. I think Meerkat was going to borrow her choir's set of Carols For Choirs 1, so we will have some material smile.gif
nicki_flute
I'm still coming and will be unless there are any unforseen circumstances

From what I can work out, the total is twelve Jo (depending on whether Andante, Fen and SaxFan can come.)

Which consists of :- you and I, and katyjay, meerkat, Nicki, janexxx, Pollyanna, skylark, willobie and the aforementioned Andante, Fen and Saxfan. smile.gif

Would certainly agree with the 'go for it' comment too - I thoroughly enjoyed the August meet. smile.gif

Opps wrong topic!!
nicki_flute
I tried to get Andy to come, but I think it would just be awkward travel wise...sad.gif
jo.clarinet
Do you think this should be pinned, and perhaps on the General Forum as well, as it's not restricted to Adult Learners anyway? It would be nice to get a few more people, especially as meerkat has gone to all the trouble of hiring the hall for us. I think CE might be coming - he was talking about buying rail tickets. I saw him today but didn't think to ask!

Making it would be a sticky would be good.

I think people would come if they could...

A good idea Jo. I had a feeling I'd missed someone, sorry CE.
meerkat
I've got a flautist friend coming, and probably my clarinettist friend who came last time too.
sneekymum
I can come.

Sorry not to have made a decision yet sad.gif Not that I don't want to, I would also agree with the "Go For It" philosophy - it was good fun last time.
It's all the other various commitments (not just mine) that have to be sorted and have made me hesitate...
away last weekend, away this coming weekend, away the next weekend... then it's Mkt H! huh.gif

thank you Nicki. Might have to bring the dog though dry.gif
I think Meerkat was hoping my Tenor sax would come too.
smile.gif
nicki_flute
I'd like your cakes to come too tongue.gif smile.gif
katyjay
What instruments does the dog play, SaxFan?

now it's beginning to sound like an ulterior motive Nicki.

Well, KJ, her favourite composer is Barch!! as you might expect biggrin.gif
nicki_flute
Or ever Bach tongue.gif

Nooooo, you're nice too!
SaxFan
She would also like to sing Lieder by Schubert and especially by Woof ! !

Do any East Midlanders know if it'd be ok for me to attend on 26th November? I play keyboard (also trombone, but keyboard/piano is my main instrument).

It's ok though if you don't need anyone else, just thought I'd ask. I think Meerkat is organising this, but others may want to let me know what they think.

thanks!

Of course it's fine for you to come smile.gif You could give me some aural tips too biggrin.gif

I think a trombone would be especially welcome, and we'd love to meet you.
katyjay
I'm sure Meerkat will agree that another participant is a Good Thing, and it'd be great to have you with us, Horatio.

Cheers

Will be good to see you too Horatio. smile.gif That trombone of yours would be useful- there always seems to be a shortage of lower-pitched instruments!

Great...I'll bring the dark chocolate tongue.gif
nicki_flute
Would anyone mind giving me a lift back? unsure.gif
meerkat
more the merrier, we all say.

If you could bring more than one instrument (anyone who has more than one) it might mean we can get a better mix.

Don't worry. If no-one else can take you, I will. OK?
nicki_flute
If you really don't mind, sorry I feel terrible.
skylark
I'm not sure where you're going back to Nicki, but I'll be heading back north on either the M1 or the A1 - Market Harborough looks to be pretty well exactly between the two so it doesn't matter either way.
I don't mind taking the scenic route if this helps smile.gif

That looks no problem at all, consider it done smile.gif
nicki_flute
What time will we be meeting, and will we go for a meal afterwards?
sneekymum
and where is it? Did I miss something a few pages back?
barry-clari
I couldn't find the venue on the thread either - I'll direct you to this thread from the August gathering which gives address details. smile.gif

I was expecting to have to play a flute solo in a service that afternoon, but our up-and-coming 15-year-old cellist is going to play one instead. smile.gif
