There are a couple of recordings of all three romances on classical music archives. If you just want to listen to them you have to register (free). If you want to download them you have to subscribe. One of the recordings is played on a clarinet the other on an oboe.

Mmmm that oboe recording is just gorgeous! rolleyes.gif I have the viola shhet music but I've yet to pluck up the courage to move into a position that high. ph34r.gif

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh just some of the most gorgeous music EVER. I play them on flute though ohmy.gif

Mmm we should do a duet on these Sarah, we just need to find a pianist then I'll do all the notes below D2 and you can do all the ones above. laugh.gif The oboe playing was just wonderful, I really must start saving (fat chance I'll be able to afford an oboe in the near future though). rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

Sarah and I had a bluff-and-blag go at playing them at Leicester smile.gif. Lovely pieces, although I am rather fond of quite a few of Schumann's works.

There are some more files of the 3 romances that are free to download at www.karadar.com. The recordings on this site are mostly old and therefore out of copyright. There are, however, some real gems here (including performances by all time great performers like Casals, Milstein and Heifetz) but I think the ones of the romances are not that brilliant. Just my opinion. Downloading from here is free but a bit awkward.

Yes you do have to register, after all they are letting you have the music free.
When you download from that site you have to make sure that you click on the 'follow this link' button at the bottom of the page, clicking on the download button doesn't work.

If you don't like registering you could always just go and buy the music instead!

Boo, I almost have it at performance... give me a few weeks and I'll see about putting it on the recordings site. I'm polishing up the octaves but I didn't play for about 5 weeks over summer as I was practising clarinet so I get awful cramp when I play! It doesn't help with my new clarinet being so heavy - my right hand is really suffering at the moment!

No, but I was within a gnat's wing of playing ABEGG in my LRSM; sadly, I couldn't balance the programme.

Cool! biggrin.gif I was thinking about putting it up too but it will probably be about a month before my teacher is completely happy with mine. smile.gif

YAP - impressive! ohmy.gif
