Hi,

Could anyone recommend a flugel mouthpiece - preferably not too expensive?

I've just had an old flugel restored but the MP is far too deep for a beginner.

Thanks,

Steve

I used to use a Denis Wick 4B - it was great. I think it was 4B anyway...

Yep, it was! smile.gif

Although I did buy a trumpet mouthpiece for my bugle of the same size in Salisbury, and it cost £25. Quite a lot of dosh for what it is!

Doesn't the 4B mean it's for a bugle? I thought flugel MPs had FL in the name.

Did it? I have no idea! blink.gif It was definitely a 4, anyway.

Did you find it particularly easy? I can play trumpet with no problem, but my flugel MP is a pain!

It was fine, yeh. Having said that I have never played flug on anything else...

The B doesn't mean that it is for a bugle, it is to do with the cup of the mouthpiece. You are right in thinking that Flugel mouthpieces have "FL" or "F" on them. It depends on the make of your flugel as to which one you need (F or FL)
