Hi,
I have a friend who has just bought a piano and he needs to hire a van to go and pick it up. He needs to know the approximate length of an upright piano......obviously all pianos will vary, but could someone tell me what an approximate measurement would probably be?
Thanks!

mais oui...
probably around 150cm wide, allow 55-60cm deep, and anywhere from 110-150 high. That's based on mine!
Happy shifting

Make sure your friend takes some binding straps to use in the van. A piano moving in a van wouldn't be a pretty sight!

I have always had my piano moved by professionals. (Even though we moved everything else ourselves). This was partly because I lived in a flat and so it had to be taken down two flights of very steep stairs. Acutally it wasn't that expensive so might be worth getting a quote and comparing with the cost of hiring a van.

I just measured my instrument , quite a small one at 138 x 106 x 55.

Given the variation between different models, is there any way that he could find out the dimensions of the one he's bought. Height could be an important factor too, depending on the type of van he uses. Good luck with it.

Actually - just spotted the spelling - do you mean an unright piano as in a wrong one? As opposed to a right piano?????
