Not really a decision, or a family one anyway, but getting the internet and then getting broadband. I've never been the sort of person to ask questions, so having all this information available revolutionised my life.
I first found out about the British Flute Society, and, after attending a Teachers' Day, was put in touch with Topwind who found me my teacher. I then discovered the old ABRSM website, and thus knew all about the new diplomas. When the new website was launched I joined the Forums. And that has led to to a whole host of performing, learning and collaborating opportunities, through which I have made some great new musical friends.
Wow!
