Seems as though I'm not going to be able to do this now.
My husband is planning a trip to Germany and thinks that week will be the best.
He is thinking that a week earlier will be more risky for weather and a week later will run into Holy week which is a busy week for me. sad.gif

Also he wants to go Wednesday to Wednesday which effectively takes out 2 Thursdays and interrupts my piano lesson which is fortnightly now.

Holidays are such an annoying interruption to life!

Moan over.

Do we have a venue for this yet (I may easily have overlooked the information)? I just wondered whether this was the time to be booking rail tickets... unsure.gif

Not yet, as far as I know. Katyjay is organising that side of things, I'm sure she'll let us know of progress. smile.gif

Sorry to have taken so long over sorting out the venue. I hope to have definite news this coming week (once the person I have to yell at is back from Xmas holiday)

Your already doing Leicester and your Adult Learners' Concert. It is understandable that it will take time to get the final details of this one together.

There's no need to apologise KJ your busy. There's only so much a girl can do in a day!

I hope, despite that, you can make it poppys. smile.gif

Will you all forgive this slight digression if I mention to poppys that the nearest forum event to her which is definitely planned at the moment, would be the Leeds concert on 2nd June.

The link is here and I'm in the throes of preparing a new thread to confirm everything.

edit : I'll change the list very soon : I'm keeping my fingers crossed that katyjay has further news about venue etc - I'll post a new list either on Sunday or when katyjay has further news, whichever is sooner. smile.gif

Hello Everyone

At long last I've managed to sort a suitable venue.

Sorry it's taken so long - I got treble-booked on the first venue, and have had a very unwelcome price-hike on this one.

The session will take place at the Hythe Centre, Egham Hythe, Surrey, on Saturday March 24th.

I will set up a web page with details shortly.

I'm afraid the cost is going to be a bit more than I originally planned - £20 per participant. This will include a copy of the CD once it's made. Additional CD copies will be available to purchase at £5.

Any participants under 18 will need permission from their parent/guardian to allow their performance to be included, and will need an adult with them on the day.

Cheers

Katyjay

Composers who aren't present won't be charged the fee, just the CD price.
barry-clari
I'll be working out/modifying the CWB to fit the musicians we have very soon. I'll presume (unless I hear otherwise) that katyjay, Jo, janexxx, meerkat and The Light Beat will play what they did at Woodford, and oboebunny has requested a solo this time round. smile.gif

The structure will remain the same, and there are a few solo vacancies : let me know please if you'd like a solo. I also have a piano vacancy, first come, first served for that. smile.gif

I've booked the venue from 10am.
barry-clari
Have checked directions etc. to the venue, and found out there is NO Northern Line service to Waterloo on Saturday 24th March (the line is closed between Camden Town and Kennington via Waterloo). This will affect anyone travelling by public transport from Euston mainline station. Quickest alternative is Victoria Line to Oxford Circus, then Bakerloo Line to Waterloo.

Is there definitely a service between Waterloo & Egham? I tried to find out about train times and got some very strange result... unsure.gif

The Trainline seems to be saying the standard Saturday service at the moment.

-post deleted- : I can't help it if I can't read South West Trains' website correctly! rolleyes.gif - the direct service to Egham is only affected on the Sunday of that weekend. Many apologies everyone.

As far as I can see, the only problem on 24th March is the lack of a Northern Line service.

Hello everyone,

Thinking about compositions, this is where we're at currently.

* Sarah-flute is looking for a suitable work,

* We should have a piece by sneekymum,

* and also from jonscott14

* and also from Boo Radley.

* there will be something from tomorrow's Chester concert written by petrat on the CD.

* Rosemary7391 is composing a work for the CD

* We should have a piece from cheeble.

* Hopefully we'll have a 'katyjay chorus' item,

* and the Charlie Wilson Blues from Amber and I,

* and hopefully an arrangement from jo.clarinet

which I make a very encouraging ten items! biggrin.gif

If anyone else wishes to have a go at finding/writing something, please send me a PM in the fairly near future. smile.gif
sarah-flute
I'm all at sixes and sevens as to what's happening, but I think katyjay's arranging a vocal piece I wrote for the choir.

I'll try and look out something else adaptable!

I have an arrangement for unaccompanied voice of the poem 'This thing is like a wheel' that I could do, maybe?

I'll give you a revised CWB meerkat.

Would love to see your arrangement meerkat - do email it to me please (and PM me if you've lost my email address). smile.gif

Otherwise, bring your 'cello etc, and we'll be all set. I'm gathering up a selection of compositions, and will eventually work out something I'm sure if you want any parts given/sent to you. smile.gif

Venue is on post 212 of this thread. smile.gif
jo.clarinet
I've got a couple of non-copyright pieces in mind which would be good for the recorder ensemble, but in order to make a decision I do now need to know what recorders people are going to bring. I want as few descants as possible (I may even choose a piece without descants) and as many lower instruments as possible, please!

As I'll be coming on public transport and will have plenty to carry anyway, I won't be in a position where I can bring along quite a few pieces and choose when I get there, so it's best to get this all sorted in advance! smile.gif

I think you are OK with what I'll bring recorder-wise Jo. Will bring SAT, and although I'm more comfortable on 'C' instruments, I will play treble if that is what's needed. smile.gif

Yes, fine - looking at the list there are several people for whom I do already know which recorders they play. There are several other people for whom I don't have any info, though - it's those I really need to hear from (notmusimum's daughter no.1, maggiemay, clk299, possom)! smile.gif

I've been putting together the revised CWB for the recording over the last few days - and the situation with solos is as follows :

Flute solo at bar 27 : vacant

Violin solo at bar 39 : janexxx (unchanged solo from Woodford)

Bassoon solo at bar 51 : vacant

Piano solo at bar 63 : vacant

Flute solo at bar 75 : replaced with a violin solo for oboebunny

Clarinet solo at bar 99 : jo.clarinet (unchanged solo from Woodford)

Clarinet solo at bar 111 : vacant

Flute solo at bar 123 : vacant

Trombone solo at bar 135 : vacant

Bassoon solo at bar 147 : replaced with a 'cello solo for Suepea

'Cello solo at bar 159 : meerkat (and will be slightly revised)

Vocal : katyjay

Any of the listed instruments can be replaced with others, so don't worry if your instrument isn't there and you'd like a solo. smile.gif
TSax
I just wanted to say that I've been watching all the forums events threads with interest and wondering if/when I'll get involved with any. Unfortunately Saturdays don't tend to work that well because it's when my regular music lessons are, but hopefully I'll catch up at some time. CWB look and sounds interesting and I could make it easy for Barry by playing improvised solos in any (or all!) vacant slots laugh.gif

I have a slight problem: unexpected, but rather nice. ohmy.gif smile.gif

One of my recorder students has got through to the final of our local Young Musician competition. I'm delighted for her, and want to be there to support her. Unfortunately it's on Saturday 24th March at 5.30 pm. Would it be possible for me to do the earlier part of the day and then slope off? I wouldn't need to leave very much before the end, probably 4pm at the earliest.
