QUOTE(meerkat @ Feb 25 2007, 12:36 PM) *

I don't suppose anyone's going past my part of the world and able to give me a lift, as that would be a BIG help.

I'll be driving down...I guess I can make a detour from the M1 (come off at Leics and back on at N'ton) smile.gif
meerkat
That would be great Jane - thanks! But I do remember it was quite a detour for you, last time, wasn't it? Would it be better for me to drive out to one of the M1 service stations and meet you there?

(I know I'm a wimp but I'm terrified of driving in London...)
katyjay
Meerkat, there's no need to worry. Egham isn't London.

Egham Hythe is literally just off the M25 at Junction 13. A good twelve miles from London, in Surrey.
meerkat
Nah, it's close enough for me not to want to drive there.... lol.

More seriously, I get quite anxious driving alone, particularly over a longer distance.

I do understand. I don't like long distance driving either.

No probs...in any case the journey always goes quicker with company, and it would be greener to share cars.

Having discovered last night that you're a bit short on the bass line for this, I spoke to my partner last night about coming and he's said we can 'make a plan'. Not sure what that might be, but it looks like I can make it after all.

I can bring a cello and a trombone. Any help?

I don't suppose anyone's going past my part of the world and able to give me a lift, as that would be a BIG help.

Many, many thanks meerkat for trying to sort out a way of coming, it's much appreciated. smile.gif

Fancy taking the trombone solo for CWB? smile.gif
meerkat
Um no. I don't think I'm up to solo-ing on anything!
barry-clari
Not a problem meerkat, don't worry. smile.gif

Can certainly give you an ensemble part if you'd like one. smile.gif
Composing Head
Hi people, managed to get the score and the parts done in time, just give me an adress I could send them to, I think the whole zipped file is 1.3 meg complexively.

Also, although I have done my best to check the parts in the time I had it would be best to recheck them for legibility and against the score. It might be quite intenstive to conduct due to cues and a few ritenuti.

I'll PM you my email address. From your signature, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's a Sibelius file! biggrin.gif

Well, barry-clari has been pouring over the computer tonight, and I've now got all bar three pieces into a playable state!

Most pieces have still to receive some tempo/dynamic marks (I'm still pretty new to this computer music lark laugh.gif ), but I'll get there.

The three that are left are : CWB, which I have in the Woodford handwritten state, I have a score from petrat that I'm working on at the moment, and I still need to check your piece Composing Head.

Everyone else : your works have been, by and large, sorted out (just done most of your piece Rosemary). smile.gif
Rosemary7391
Thanks Barry! smile.gif
barry-clari
Well, we've reached the closing date for performers and compositions.

Thank you to everyone who's provided pieces and those of you coming to the recording session on the 24th. smile.gif

Watch this space for a full track listing of all nine pieces we will be recording on the day.... biggrin.gif
barry-clari
Here we go then:......

Track 1 : The Charlie Wilson Blues : composers barry-clari/Amber

Track 2 : 'Mixed Emotions', a flexi-work composed by Rosemary7391

Track 3 : A piece by Rainbow, with no name as yet. A flexi-work, but no clarinets in this.

Track 4 : A piece by Oddball, will check the name. Another flexi-work, will probably add a clarinet part to this if I have time, as again it has no clarinet part.

Track 5 : A piece/arrangement by willobie for recorders.

Track 6 : A choral work from sarah-flute

Track 7 : A flexi-work from Composing Head

Track 8 : An arrangement of a piano quintet for flexible ensemble by Boo Radley. Will add a clarinet part to this, as again at the moment it lacks one.

Track 9 : Three Welsh Airs, arranged by petrat (the Chester finale).

If you're coming to the Clapham SRP meet, I'll bring some of the parts with me then (though some may lack the odd dynamic/phrase mark etc....) smile.gif

If you were able to get there a bit earlier eg 1.30pm-ish we could have a run through the recorder piece - might save some time on the day... smile.gif

Dear everyone

Now we know who's taking part, I shall be working with Barry to get parts ready for distribution, so that people can look at them before the day.

So please keep an eye on your e-mail for a message on how to get your parts very very soon.

Cheers

Katyjay

Hello! biggrin.gif

I am now in the process (and I mean literally now!) of printing out the scores and parts for CWB, and Rosemary7391's, Rainbow's, Oddball's and petrat's pieces. I have created a photo site, where I will place these parts for all performers to view. I'll let you know of the address very soon. smile.gif
barry-clari
A little plea.

One of the compositions has got a woodblock in it, and neither TLB or I have a woodblock. sad.gif

Does anyone coming to Egham either own a woodblock or can get hold of one? smile.gif
Cyrilla
I have a smallish but OK one which you could borrow when I see you on Tuesday, if you can't find another, barry!

Well, the session is finished. Everyone worked phenomenally hard, and I think the results will be very exciting.

Unfortunately we only managed to record 7 tracks in the time. But those 7 will be a great CD.

Thanks to everyone for their contributions, and particularly to Barry for all the time he put into arranging the music.

Cheers

Katyjay

PS someone went home without their music stand. PM me if it's yours.
petrat
Glad that you had such a good day. I would have loved to have been there. Did you work through the tracks in the order listed a few posts ago? What I really want to know is DID YOU PLAY MINE? biggrin.gif
