lS THERE ANY EXAMINA TIONS FOR CONDUCTING LIKE THEIR ARE FOR MUSIC PERFORMANCE AND LITERACY,OR ONLY FOR POST GRADUATE STUDIES AT THR ROYAL cOLLEGE OF MUSIC ETC.
ANYONE KNOW?
There is a summer school in Dorset that does a Conducting Course, alongside a Singing Course and a Piano Accompaniment Course. I think that the course lasts around two weeks and you work with a range of professionals and they provide both orchestras (and chamber ensembles) and choirs for you to 'practice' conducting on, culminating in you conducting in a recital at the end of the course. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the course, but I'll try and find a brochure I have somewhere and let you know! Get in touch with your County Music Advisor to see if they can organise (or run) a Conducting Course in your local area - I'm sure there will be loads of aspiring conductors or amateur choral society directors etc. that would be interested! Good luck!
