My cello lesson time has changed from its usual slot (1:45 in the afternoon) to 8:30 (in the morning) This is a hassle as I only get into school at 8:40, I have tried the past 3 weeks to get in earlier, though the buses do not arrive until 8:15 sad.gif I have paid for my years lessons so it would be a waste of money if I were to move to lessons outside of school sad.gif I guess some things in life are just unfair sad.gif

If it's not possible for you to get to school at that time because of bus times I would tell someone you need a change.
Producing the bus timetable should be enough to prove it.
If I was your mum I would be on to the school about it as it would be MY cash being wasted!

I have the last slot (8:45) the other two students in my school are able to come in earlier (8:00 & 8:15) Though I just cannot get in any earlier than 8:40, which is most of my lesson cut, also last year we got 30 minute lessons, and now they have been cut to 15 minutes. No matter how much I've tried, it is mostly depending on the bus' arrival to school sad.gif

The only solution I have thought of would be to take lessons outside of school, though the cost of them and the money wasted on lessons in school would be enough to drive my mum mad, currently she pays £46 for singing monthly and £40 for piano, and I definately wouldn't want to quit cello, it doesn't feel like it is an option, my exam is also in 5-6 weeks so my fear over it isn't really improving sad.gif

I wonder if it would be possible to be driven to school by car on lesson days? If not then your head of music really has to sort out something for you. Your lessons have been paid for and as you are not able to get there at the new time the teacher should be flexible enough to work around the problem. I think that a parent needs to talk to both the head of music and the head of the school. If they cannot help then I think that you have to ask for a full refund of any fees paid and go for private lessons. A fifteen minute lesson is very short anyway. I would be worried that you were not covering all of the exam work in that time.

Talk to the Cello Teacher, your head of Music in School and the Music Service if the Cello Teacher is a Peri.

We pay termly for our Daughters school lessons when it became obvious that she would always be missing French. no matter which lesson she had, I talked to the Music Service. My Daughter talked to her School Teacher and she also spoke to the Music Service. It took a couple of weeks but now the Peri comes into school 20 mins later so my daughter gets her lesson over break.

Speak to everyone involved and see if they can come up with a soloution as this situation is not your fault. Alternatively won't the Teacher stay a few minutes longer to make sure you get your full lesson time. These things generally can be resolved with communication.

Hope it gets sorted for you.

If things dont work out, perhaps consider changing teachers? Because its not worth missing 2/3 of your lesson, and this is only what i think, but you really cant get much out of a 15 minute lesson.

Hi,
i have my flute lessons at school and the time gets changed on a weekly bases so that im not always missing the same subject. Try talking to your teacher and suggesting for her/him to try this idea. Also suggest to change your time or to permantly have it during break. I know thats boring because you miss the best part of the day!!! - but its and option if you really mind about the time of your lesson. You can also talk to your mum and tell her to write in a letter to your chello teacher.
Hope you find this helpful,

Also i forgot to mention in my last reply that you could try and find someone else in your school that plays the chello during school time with your teacher and ask to swap
