Charlies Aunt
Hello everyone.

Yesterday, four of my students (aged between five and 11) played in a concert. It was in a local church, and was organised by other tutors as a way of getting youngsters experienced in playing in front of an audience.

Anyway, the Deputy Mayoress was there, and she approached me to say how impressed she was with my students! (I've no doubt she said this to all tutors, but I was pleased nonetheless!). This is the first time that any of my students have been involved in anything like this, and I just wanted to say how proud of them I am! They all worked very hard to get their pieces up to standard. The concert is being held again in March, and all four want to play again.

Thanks all! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Congratulations biggrin.gif.

Just a thought, if it's to give people a chance to perform in public would it not be better to choose some other pupils to perform at the next one to share out the opportunity? Unless of course these are the most deserving, I don't know how many you have but you did say four of my, implying that you have more than four smile.gif.

Thanks Katyjay and AP! Yes, I have 15 pupils in all. Most are now adults and this concert is for 5-16 year olds only. I have three more younger ones I want to ask for next March. I was also approached by two parents who took my number for their youngsters, so there is a possibility of 9 being ready for March. smile.gif

I think it's a fantastic opportunity for your pupils to perform in public. Hope you get those extra pupils.

Because of the success of the younger persons concert, one for the adults is being organised for next Summer. (This is a very new idea in our area and started off as a pilot study to see how many youngsters would be interested). Hopefully, the adult one will be just as successful. smile.gif

Well done Charlies Aunt. Students DO like to play in public generally. This could be a regular thing!
I now have two per year, so that everyone gets at least one opportunity (audience is around 100). I found that the extra confidence they get through this means that they are ASKING to do festivals and exams!
