Hi there! I'm having a brain storm and have gone blank on how to play 3 octave scales. In triplets? It seems right, but I want to be absolutely sure!

Thank you!

I think it's optional as long as scales are played rhythmically; probably depends which instrument. I always found playing in triplets helps me keep in the right place.

It's the piano. I think the 'blank' is because it is the only set of scales in 3 octaves, since the others are 2 or 4 octaves.

Yep, I think you're right. I like the 3 octave scales, I find the triplet pattern really helps - shame they're only in one grade! laugh.gif

yea.. most of them are right that 3 octaves scales must be played in triplets rhythms.

I didn't think they HAD to be - as far as I understood it, it's optional...?

i think as far as the scales are played rhythmically and the beats are even, then it will be fine...

It never occured to me to play 3 octave scales in triplets. That said, there aren't many 3 octave scales at grade 6 clarinet!
