Interesting that you have a Yamaha, as that is what I am considering. The Yamahas destined for Australia are seasoned (!) for Australian conditions, which is important for me as I am in a very hot part of Australia!

I think Yamahas are unbeatable for value for money and have lovely smooth actions.

fwiw, I didn't like the Yamahas I played when I was looking for my new piano recently. They seemed harsh and unsympathetic to play.

Sorry, should have qualified that a bit...yes I agree the sound is not the best. As a piano to practise on though, in one way this makes them even better! If you can make something sound good on a harsh-sounding Yamaha, then come performance it should make things easier as you'll generally be performing on a Steinway, which are mellower...

Mine's a George Rogers (bought new 1972) who were soon after taken over by Yahama. I have never seen another one, I think they were based in Essex.
Among todays pianos, and without pushing the boat out to much on price, I rather like Kemble pianos, I play my daughers new Kemble Oxford from time to time

Kemble were on my shortlist - I certainly liked the ones I played when looking round!

I have played a few Rogers I believe, in the past, not sure where, probably at college.

I like my Kemble but I wish I could have had a choice about it.
My piano is in our extended kitchen and when I needed to replace my old one I found that pianos were almost all too long for the space. I had to get the one that would fit.
