I am taking grade 5 clarinet in march. For the aural tests you have to do the usual tests of clapping the beat of a piece of music and answering questions on a piece the examiner plays.you also have to sing back one long phrase after it has been played twice. In the last test you have to sing about 6 different notes, the examiner plays the tonic note and then you have to sing the others which i think are given to you on a piece of paper.Hope that helps and good luck!!!!!!

Grade 5 is quite jump from grade 2! Have you thought about buying some of the aural skills preparation books that are widely available in music shops? A good suggestion is 'Aural Training in Practice' by Ronald Smith. It's published by ABRSM and covers a couple of grades in each book. eg. grades 4 and 5 are together. It helps you to prepare and tells you how you can expect the examiner to word questions in an exam. Having said that, if you find difficulty in playing some of these practise exercises as they are written for the piano, there are also cassettes and CDs covering exactly the same information.
Hope this helps - good luck!
