Hi everyone,
Been inspired by the new theory forum which I'm so glad we have. biggrin.gif
I was talking about this subject on another thread but thought it should have a topic all to itself tongue.gif
ABRSM has harp exams and seems to think its important enough for that, yet harp topics are posted everywhere - jazz forum, viva strings, general music forum, adult learner forum. Wouldn't it be so much easier to have it all in one place?
There is a viva percussion but that isn't used very much, neither is the jazz forum! I'm sure lots of people would use a harp forum because even if you don't play its a lovely sounding instrument that is very interesting and becoming a lot more popular.
I know quite a few people on this forum are into harps...so lets get together and ask very nicely for a viva harp please!! biggrin.gif

The Viva Percussion forum is on the verge of being deleted because it is not very popular. I don't think a harp forum would be very popular either.

Besides, the harp is a stringed-instrument anyway, and we already have a Viva Strings forum...

I don't really see that there will be much need for a Harp Forum, as with theory there were daily topics that needed a home, but there are not so many for the harp. wink.gif Also if want a harp one there will be people wanting an early music one aswell, and so on. smile.gif

Edit// I agree with CE wink.gif

Hmm..yeah true I guess, maybe the harp forum will have to wait sad.gif
On the other hand, we do have an organ forum which I thought would be less popular than it actually is!

Actually, I think I do remember a request for an early music forum!

Agree 100% with CE. You may not remember, but just over a year ago there were forums for clarinet, flute, violin, cello and a few other instruments on top of the general family forums. I miss viva flute and viva clarinet, but they were cut to make things more manageable for the moderators.

You could ask in viva piano - the forum for discussing harps played using an elaborate remote-control hammer mechanism wink.gif.

But surely piano should be discussed in Viva Percussion ?

I can see a case for turning the Jazz Forum into a "Music Genres" forum, which would encompass jazz, early music, folk etc. The only justification I can see for Jazz having a forum all to itself is that there is an exam for it. Much as I would wish it otherwise, it's obvious that the Jazz Forum isn't well used. But seeing as I started the thread for the Theory Forum, I'm going to leave it to someone else to start a request for a "Music Genres" forum if there's a demand for it tongue.gif

It is a shame sad.gif and I think when there isn't much activity, it also means people are less likely to bother checking it, and more likely to feel a bit apprehensive of posting in case it's "in the wrong place" or whatever sad.gif Threads in there seem to die very quickly sad.gif

Oh sorry, I didn't realise they had forums for instruments before - I only found these forums a few months ago! ph34r.gif So was there ever a harp forum?

At least then Viva Percussion would not die!!!

I think harp should be covered in the strings forum.

Hello

We are not going to be creating any more froums at present. There are already lots of forums for you to post in. Harp questions can be posted in Viva strings.

Thanks
