Anyone know an easy way to remember scales? They really confuse me. Any tips on how to remember?

Thanks Soph blink.gif

Hi Soph -

there is a whole thread already on this and I think it is in Students, but am not quite sure - about learning scales. Just checked - it IS in Students called "How Do You Learn Your Sacles" (yes a spelling mistake, but that's what it says)

Good luck.

By the way - do you LIKE scales?

Generally i just write them all out then put them in a 'hat' and pull them out. Then, tick off the ones on a chart when i know them.
Also, dont bore yourself silly, otherwise you won't bother remembering. At least, that's my philosophy - little and often! Like, once, twice maybe three times a day.

Hope this helps!

buy some pieces of music that involve scales...then you have no choice but to learn them! To learn my chromatics I used to play lots of jazzy pieces...really good way of learning....just an idea!
