Take a look at This Site

This is a project for ordinary people to write a blog of what they did last Tuesday (17th October), the "One Day in History" in question, and submit it to the project. The idea is that it will provide a valuable document for the future as people can study the everyday life of the community in 2006.

I thought some of you may be interested in submitting your blog (or writing a one off blog) for the project. The details are on the website, and you post your entry there (up to 600 words). You can also read entries which vary vastly from young kids detailing what they had for breakfast to some very moving entries.

One in particular struck me of a woman who is looking after her mother who has Alzheimers. She has to sleep on the floor of her mother's room in her brother's house, and is currently living apart from her husband to provide this care. The family had looked at care homes but could not bear putting their mother into any they looked at. Her life is on hold for the moment as she and her brother provide the 24 hour care for a woman who does not now even know who she is. Very sobering.

I definitely posted on the 17th, I remember...

Apparently:

"This is, however, delaying the speed at which the diaries are appearing on the website. Please have patience with us as we are publishing them as fast as we can. When your diary has been approved you will receive an e-mail confirming this. Thank you for bearing with us and a BIG thank you for the wonderful response."

I haven't had an email...will email them.

From their website FAQs

When will my diary be displayed?

As we are sure you can imagine we have had a huge response to 'One Day in History' and we are absolutely delighted. A very vivid picture of the UK on 17 October is developing.

Our school history department took over one of the ICT rooms for the Wednesday lunchtime for people to write up their blogs. I got about half way through mine in 45 minutes but had to save it to a word document that I still have to finish and upload. What really amazed me was how hard it was for me even to remember what I did yesterday!!

I'm sure I could make some lively entries...
