I am a middle aged candidate and riddled with nerves about my grade 8 piano in three weeks time.
I am not particularly confident with the aurals but I think I am ready for the other parts of the exam.
Any tips on how I can contain my nerves and shaky fingers? Or does everyone feel like this?

take a look at this thread...

there are a few more threads that you can find inside... or you may want to perform a search on "Nerves"... there had been a lot of discussions of nerves in the forums..

Hi Caroline

I must admit g8 aural is a nightmare but you sound as if you are on top of your pieces and sightseeing reading and they carry the most marks. Good luck for your exam. Let us know how you get on.

need not to worry too much. My case is i was horrible in sight-reading but still can get a merit. You should be better than i! Good luck!

Yeah! True enough! Another thing is during exam don't be too nervous! It will somehow affect your playing!

Some people do while others don't. It depends on your natural ability...

I get so nervous that I throw up. Bananas aren't a good idea for me! I also get so nervous that I get the shakes in my legs, which interferes with pedaling. I've tried every suggestion ever posted - I'm beginning to think the only solution is a stiff drink! I'm 36 and have a music college audition as a mature student coming up - and I think I'm worse now than when I was 21. Oh well.
