my technique is really bad. Well not really bad but what happened was my first piano teacher never corrected me when i made bad technique mistakes, or she never told me that when i did these weird things with my hands, or I repeat the same note that it would become a bad habit.
So can anyone offer any tips, suggestions, or different technique books to help me?
Also, I am preparing for a music competition and im learning a difficult piece, but i can't concentrate, and when i do i lose it in minutes. Any suggestions about that?
thanks a million....

I think that to spot and correct 'bad' habits it is proably better to have a teacher to guide you. Someone else can see what you are doing better than you can yourself.
For your competition piece I would build it up slowly.
Make sure that you know each section well before you move on.
Then you can gradually build up the length of what you are playing and improve your concentration.

hey bad habit man, dont be too discouraged with your so called flaws. im very much heavily influenced by jazz music which is a totally different playing style and technique to classical.
for example with styles like boogie woogie its better to keep you wrist down when playing as opposed to keeping wrists up in classical playing.
i would say concentrate on making a good sound, know your piece inside out, listen to some recordings of your piece but dont try to copy it.
playing music is all about personal expression, some of the greats have their flaws, glenn gould almost sits on the floor whilst playing!!
all the best in your competition, and if you have a concentration problem why did you pick such a hard piece??
