Hi Caroline - hey, I did my Gr8 yesterday afternoon ! I feel great today !

I played the Scarlatti sonata in D minor, Mozart's Allegro Moderato in C and Autumn Crocus.

The sight reading was nice - well, I felt I could do it when he put it in front of me.

Aurals ...hmmm, some Ok some not... Singing back the bass line, well I couldn,t even tease it out so I guessed something. Cadence was Ok and I think I got some of the chords right. Sight singing, OK, one modulation Ok, not sur about the other. The D test (I was tired by then ) - it was a piece of renaissance music I think and the examiner bent over backwards to help me out, but I was floundering horribly. Oh well, it's only a few marks I suppose.

When is your exam and what are you playing ?

I did scarlatti's sonata in d, the mozart sonata in c and the debussy arabesque

the aural went reaaally well, the examiner was really friendly...

I'm hoping to do it probably next summer, but just for the record, I'm *probably* doing the Bach Prelude and Fugue, the Mozart Allegro and Brahms Impromtu

Mine's on Wednesday...... I'm playing the Scarlatti Sonata in D, The Mozart Allegro Moderato and the Liszt Dem Andenken Petöfis. I hope it goes well, but I'm still really nervous!! When is your exam? Which pieces are you doing?
xx

Hi there, this could be interesting for a poll!
all the ppl in this thread played Scarlatti smile.gif I did too, my exam was 26th October - no result yet sad.gif
My other pieces were CPE Bach and Debussy

Good luck to all with results!!!
Anna
I did mine on Monday

Did Scarlatti in D, Mozart Sonata in C and the Debussy

Funny how most people picked the same first two!!

Aural tests ok. Modulations, singing bass line and cadence all great. Singing bass part from score got list a bit in the middle but last bar was ok. D section was ok but couldn't think of much to say.

Sight reading was a joke and I just made it up. In 5/4 so quite awkward.

Scales were so easy!! B major, Fsharp major D flat major, Ab major in thirds, F melodic minor, a few easy arpeggios.

Hope I've done enough in everything else to pull up the sight reading mark!

Got results today

Scarlatti 26/30
Mozart 26/30
Debussy 24/30
Scales 17/21
Sight reading 15/21
Aural tests 16/18

124 passed with merit.

Over the moon cos I worked it out to be about 105 and if the examiner was very strict I could have fallen below the 100.

Hope you all did well too!!

Mine was 24 Nov. I played the SCARLATTI, BEETHOVEN'S AllaTedesca and the ARENSKY Impromptu. I thought I was going to be ok and was well prepared but then the old nerves kicked in and I think I made a complete and utter mess of everything, even the bits I could play really well. By the time I got to the sightreading which seemed not too bad except for an awkward tempo, I could hardly focus. The sight singing was awful even though I had a second go at it. Oh dear.......and the bananas didn't help!!
I played the pieces almost perfectly when I got home, had a good cry and resolved to take the exam again in March. Surely I can't be that bad with nerves again?
The examiner was lovely.
