How about this then? Seen in local Spar shop:

"Piano for sale. Iron framed, overstrung upright. Good working order. Regularly tuned. Condition is good, but child has chipped the FRONT OFF EVERY WHITE KEY( ph34r.gif ph34r.gif ). £300 or near offer."

I think it should be re-written "Child for Sale"

Any offers anyone?

Child definitely.

Is that front top, or front side? Front top would be (at the very least) uncomfortable to play.

Just out of interest (Not!) I rang the number to find out more. The lady said the child had got hold of daddies chisel he'd left laying around. Apparently child wanted to see how the keys worked. It's the front tops that are missing.
She said "You need to be quick if you want to buy. I've had an awful lot of interest already!"

Mmmm- a porky pie, me thinks! biggrin.gif

My old singing teacher has twin younger brothers, who when they were very little decided they'd use their recorders to play the piano instead of their fingers. It had fairly disastrous consequences on the keys, I'm sure you can imagine...

the grand in our school gets awful treatment... people but there bags/coats/drinks *wince* on it, which I can't really do much about but when they use it as a step up to the stage or sit on it or open the lid and bang the keys I stand up and glare/shout at them. Although I'm not actually a prefect they don't actually know that and anyway, I'm upper school so they should listen to me. Me and my friend are thinking of going and playing it one break time so that maybe they'll treat it with a bit more respect. Thing is, I think it actually used to be quite a nice piano but none of the teacher care about it at all!!

How much does a child go for these days?

Our grand piano at school is only used for special occasions. At other times of the year, it's kept in the kitchens with a fridge on top of it ph34r.gif

The grand at school in Gloucester hall (we have various uprights dotted around) is a very nice Bechstein (or that's what I think it is), but it stinks. It has that horrid, stale smell about it, and you can't play it for more than 20 minutes without having to take a break from it, it's awful! Most of the time it's kept in the corner of the hall, thankfully under a dust cover. It's not in bad nick, but the music stand is broken, and the instrument in general is filthy.

I prefer the uprights myself sad.gif

We had a Bechstein at school as well, and it too did stink. Had an incredibly stiff action; only got to play it once a year for the school concert. Nasty stuff.
