A3 Allemande: 27/30
A good tempo and some elegant phrasing and dynamic contrasts within the pieces. Pulse is adhered to well here, and a good character of the piece comes over.
B1 Esquisse: 26/30
A confident sound - really work at legato in the melody and especially the LH accompaniment. Some expressive dynamics here, try t okeep the spread chords within the legato and allow the tune to really sing out.
C1 For Johnny Mehegan: 27/30
Some persuasive articulation in the octave passages - keep this up in the chordal syncopations. However, some good characterisation and a feel for mood.
Scales: 17/21
Well prepared. A few small slips and work hard at real even tone. Well done. A few slips, again in arpeggios but keys well known.
Sight Reading: 15/21
Quite steady and some slips along the way and some pauses too for correct identification of notes.
Aurals: 16/18
Some good responses. Singing back a melody good. Second sung response (sight singing) 2 slips. Cadences etc good. Listening test good. Clapping, a small slip, and 3/4 not 6/8.
Total: 128/130
I'm a bit disappointed that I missed out on a distinction yet again (I missed it for Grade 6 too) but I am really happy, because I felt so underprepared for this exam (see rant in the other thread!). I'm really pleased with my pieces, especially the third one - I was certain that this one would be really bad, and had actually thought my second piece was the best one! I'm a little disappointed with scales, because I knew them, but I was let down by nerves and slip ups. The sight reading mark is a bit embarrassing (
All in all, very happy. I'm sorry for being a pain before the exam - it feels so good to have it all done.
