I bought the new Mika album today... it is brilliant biggrin.gif

I also bought Nothing like the sun by Sting biggrin.gif
Lixandreth
All Flowers in Time by Jeff Buckley and Liz Fraser. Definitely.

Goodness, it's so difficult... there are so many good songs...and a few really great, but mood changes one's view.

Maybe "Je ne regrette rien" Edith Piaf or possibly "Ne me quitte pas" Jacques Brel.

could go on

It's boring and dull... Mediocre, at best!

But then, that could be a reflection on modern songwriting in general!! Lyrics in modern sings simply aren't as powerful and meaningful as those in older music!

Listen to something by Sandi Thom - if you can get hold of it then Time is great, one of the ones that stands out and some of the others are good as well (well actually I think they're all amazing personally but I'll let you decide...)

I've listened to Sandi Thom...

Unfortunately the songs I heard were very inaccurate, which rather spoilt it for me...

I quite liked that song, but it's had far too much airtime on radio. I get fed up of it. 'Set Fire to the Third Bar' is a good song, but I liked their album 'Final Straw' better!

The one that springs to mind is 'Your Song' by Elton John - my favourite romantic song!

I know many people think "I wish I was a Punk Rocker" is inaccurate and I'm not going in to that, but I'd genuinely be interested to know what other of her songs you think are inaccurate. And I don't mean that in a nasty challenging way, I'm interested to hear others' views on it smile.gif
Oddball
Radiohead - Karma Police cool.gif

Mine would probably Africa by Toto. Such a great song especially when performed live.

They Dance Alone... by Sting biggrin.gif

That's a great song! I hear the Mica song today. I quite liked it actually, which surprised me a bit!! Another song for me to add to my list- 'The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite' by REM! (Nothing can beat Hoppipolla though!) Oh, and the Dances with Wolves theme! biggrin.gif
Soph15
I am liking 'Why' and 'pavement cracks by Annie Lennox

'The cowboy song' and 'seven days' by Sting at the moment smile.gif

'500 Miles' by The Proclaimers (it doesn't help they've re-released it for Comic Relief; I've been singing to it on radio all day!!! laugh.gif ) 'Losing My Religion' by REM is also fast becoming a favourite for me too! biggrin.gif

If you keep watching the music channels, it'll probably be on about 100 times before the day is out! It's been getting loads of coverage here just because they are Scottish, so everyone thinks that they'll be number one! It's been in almost every newspaper and everything so it's quite funny that they are getting all this attention so suddenly again!!! laugh.gif
