I caught a Performance Channel program last night when a girl was playing the Beethoven Op7 Sonata, but missed the first few minutes, so I didnt catch who she was.
From the captions at the end it was from The Guildhall School. Anyone know who its was, and is this going to be part of a whole series of Beethoven Sonatas.
I wasnt all that impressed however by that performance, the Beethoven 'mood' wasnt really there(it was a bit bland) and there were a couple of note slips in the Scherzo and last movement.

Gotta get Sky!
This type of thing would be a very pleasant alternative to I'm a Celebrity!

Hello.
I didn't hear this one, but I was listening to the classic fm Evening Concert which was dedicated to Beethoven. I was very disappointed with the Emperor Piano concerto. It was played at a much faster tempo than any I've heard before. Even the beautiful second movement was too fast (in my humble opinion).

If you go for Sky you will get Performance Channel and Artsworld, both of which often carry classical concerts/recitals. What irritates me is that you do get regular repeats of the same ones. However the Beethoven I started with thread with was new. I think you can go to their websites to find whats on.

There is another Beethoven Sonata next Wed at 8 on Performance Channel (Sky 271), dont know which one or whos playing but will probably be from Guildhall School again
I will miss it as I will be in London for Gergiev conducting Shosts 12th and 10th (my favourite Symphony) at the Barbican.
Looks like the Beethoven series may be regular though.
