my teacher chosen 3 pieces for my music college audition, which are weber 1st mov of concerto in F, finzi fugetta and the 2nd mov of brahms sonata in F minor.
the problem is i don't know what level is the brahms but i seems very very easy compared to the other i am doing, my teacher said it used to be the set piece of guildhall long time ago.
i am a bit worry now. anyone knows about the level of the piece?

I would guess about grade 6, but the other two are comfortably grade 8. This a lovely movement with endless scope for expressive playing and tonal contrasts. It should balance the other two well.

Hope it goes well. smile.gif

In terms of a grade level I'm not sure where I would put the Brahms - it is deceptively easy on the page. It is a real opportunity to show the lyrical side of your playing and how well you work with the piano (think duet of equal parts). It provides a nice contrast with your other 2 pieces.

yeah, i think the point my teacher chose me the piece is to make this simple piece beautifully.
i was given this piece today and sight read with my music class teacher today and he(FRCO organ) found the piano part difficult.

Brahms...G7 MINIMUM. The easiest movement of the 2 sonatas is the 3rd of No.1, and that's more like G6 than 5.

Brahms + Piano parts = ph34r.gif
