I'm going to turn various calendar entries on this thread into links CE. smile.gif

Have now turned many of the entries into direct links to the appropriate threads. smile.gif

Just to let you know that I've had it confirmed this afternoon that we can have the usual premises for 22nd September, so that date is now definite for the September Forums Concert. smile.gif

Is that Woodham just off the M25 near Chobham?

Is that Woodham just off the M25 near Chobham?

Afraid not. It's Woodford - about as far the opposite side of the M25 as you get.

But, conversely, considerably nearer Leeds wink.gif

Have taken the 'probably' off the date for Woodford Jo. smile.gif

I've put a link next to the Woodford and Stalybridge concert entries on the calendar to the threads concerning last year's events, to give people a taste of what the events'll be like. When, later in the year, threads are posted for the 2007 events, I shall put new links in. smile.gif

Been a while since any update here - but I've added a possible April Harborough playday to the calendar, in very vague terms at the moment.

I've also put a line through the Teddington date - I really hope I can make an adult learner concert sometime, they've all fallen on dates I can't do so far..... sad.gif
barry-clari
Added the next Harborough playday (15/4/07) to the calendar, and directed the links on both this entry and the bandstand entry to the new East Midlands thread. smile.gif

Next forum event is the CD recording in Egham on 24/3/07. Closing date is next Saturday, so if you want to come, you'll need to react very soon. smile.gif

So far the concerts are not by invitaion.
Usually a site is created and a new thread put up to announce it where you can download an application form once details have been sorted out.
barry-clari
For any concert, if you're unsure about details, PM the username next to the concert entry I'd say would be a good course of action (eg jod-Cambridge, sbhoa-Stalybridge etc. ) smile.gif
barry-clari
Have redirected the link on the Leeds concert entry to the new Leeds thread.

A reminder of the April forum dates to note :

10th April : Leicester (applications now closed).
15th April : Harborough playday.
30th April : closing date for applications for Leeds.

Sarah's proposal for a Gloucestershire flute ensemble now on the list.

Thinking of the Harborough bandstand concert, there is no formal closing date for this, but I would appreciate confirmation of attendance beforehand, so I can sort out music for you - thank you! smile.gif

Didn't know where to post this so I hope here is OK wink.gif

I was just thinking that the pinned section of the General Music Forum is getting very crowded and maybe a bit confusing for new members who won't necessarily know what's current and what's been and gone. Just wondering how long past concerts should stay pinned for? wink.gif What would everybody think to them staying for, say, a couple of weeks after the event whilst photos/comments are being posted, and then asking for them to be unpinned?

I'd like the studio recording event thread to remain pinned until the CDs have been produced and been on sale for a while. smile.gif

Shouldn't the Leeds concert thread be pinned? unsure.gif

Shouldn't the Leeds concert thread be pinned? unsure.gif

The main reason why I haven't asked for the thread to be pinned is because when I first joined the forums, it was weeks and weeks before I looked at the pinned threads. Being a complete novice on internet forums, and also being not much more than a novice on an instrument, I (wrongly) thought that the pinned threads about concerts looked very "elitist" for want of a better word - well above my level anyway, so I never looked at them. So I've wanted the Leeds thread to look like any other ordinary thread in an attempt not to discourage new members who might have got the wrong impression as I did.

I might ask for the Leeds thread to be pinned at some stage, but at the moment I'm happy not to have it pinned wink.gif

Have put July 8th on the calendar as a likely date for the next Market Harborough playing session.

Is there any further news, Scottish contingent, on any forum event in Scotland? smile.gif

On the question of 'events that have gone quiet', I've just recalled that somebody (I forget who) was proposing one or more playdays in the North West of England. Can anyone a. remember who that was, and b. say whether they're still likely to happen? smile.gif

Edit: found it smile.gif here is the link

I need to find out a bit more if I can arrange something feasible here, too. Not that I'm about to jump into organising an event right at the moment but it'd be useful to do some of the non-committing groundwork for future reference......

Good luck with that Sarah. I obviously won't be able to help you out in anything like the way I've done with Market Harborough, but if I can come to one of your proposed playdays, I'll see if I can bring some music. smile.gif

I would strongly recommend finding someone/somewhere with plenty of flexi-music you can use. smile.gif

The 25th is likely to be a playday. This is now on the calendar. smile.gif

We're looking at the possibility of another bandstand concert on Saturday 8th September. smile.gif
barry-clari
Harborough on 8th September is on the calendar now. Have put it down as a 'Market Harborough event', further details will go on the calendar/East Midlands thread when everything's finalised as to what sort of event it'll be. smile.gif

If you're creating a 2008 calendar, could you tentatively put down Sat 31 May for another Leeds concert....biggrin.gif I don't know whether people will want me to organise another Leeds concert next year, but if I do end up organising another one and if we have it at the same place, then it really needs to be held when the college is closed for half term so that we can have it to ourselves smile.gif
barry-clari
When we have a reasonable group of proposed events, they'll all be published on the new calendar. 2008 looks like being quite an exciting year again for events!..... biggrin.gif

As people are worried about the travelling in January perhaps a weekend in March would be better? There were not many events planned then in 2007, just one I think. Perhaps the first weekend in March might be a good time?
