I was born in Manchester - of Irish parents - which makes me an Irish citizen.
I've had a lot of holidays in Galway and Cavan but I've always lived in England.
Does that count?

emy!, in your signature where you say 'HATES RECORDER+IRISH' does that mean you hate the recorder and the Irish? Or do you mean 'IRISH+HATES RECORDER'?

I thought that 'hates Irish' referred to learning the language in school....

If you're mum was born in Ireland then you're an Irish national too. But if it's "only" a grandparent who was Irish then you might still have a right to apply for citizenship, see
http://www.oasis.gov.ie/moving_country/mig...or_descent.htmlAre we going to start an Irish club?

Nah, my mum was born in England. My maternal grandfather was born in the North (of Ireland) and my maternal grandmother in Eire.
Looking at those rules, I think I could claim citizenship though.......
