I am quite sure my teacher does not read these boards. Have any of you ever read a post and thought, "Oh I know that student." It might be a bit embarrassing in some instances I suppose.

I think I have the best arrangement for that.
My teacher knows my user name but only reads topics that I send to her as being interesting (after carefully checking my own contribution to the topic first

).

If the parents of some of my pupils read Liddy and Addy on a regular basis I would either lose pupils very fast or get offered a period of respite somewhere quiet!

Two of my teachers (and one pupil) are forums members - that's how we linked up.
EDIT: Of the other two teachers I study with,
One of my teachers looks at me as if I've gone totally crackers whenever I mention the forums. The other one looks politely "interested" but doesn't comment much.
I think as long as one is not saying anything too stupid or inflammatory then it doesn't matter anyway.

I don't really tell people I am a member of any forums (I like to keep this separate), so my teachers don't know, I don't *think* my teacher has an idea I am a member of this forum.

I think I'd just like to clarify to readers that the teachers kj mentions in the first paragraph are different from the teachers she mentions in the second.

haha !
I know one of my students is a forums member - as far as I know none of the others are, although one has taken part in a forums concert, and I regularly recommend the forums to students in general - polite interest but usually that's all.

Oops! Yes, that didn't quite come out as I intended. Sorry
I have edited my post to try to sort that out. Although I think that now I'm in a hole I'd better stop digging...

I didn't think it was you... after all you are far too sensible.

I've never even thought of looking at the students forum for my pupils.
Also my username pretty much gives away my real name for anyone that knows me. (should probably change it!)
Hope my pupils (and teacher) aren't reading this 'cos then they'll know how hopeless I sometimes feel and how much advice I ask for.
I don't think I've ever written anything offensive or nasty though so I should be. OK
In any case - if anyone out there recognises me - own up!
I'm just wondering though - would you mind if your teacher did recognise you from their posts? Is there something you think that you're teacher is doing wrong? You could just speak to them directly - they'll probably admire you're courage. It could also help you to get on better if they understand the way you like to learn.

I don't think I would mind if my teacher recognised me because I wouldn't say anything bad about her. I have only had her for a few lessons and already she is the best teacher I have ever had. She even makes the way I practise interesting and fun. I suppose I would be a bit embarrassed though.

I inspect every thread on an hourly basis and exert terrible retribution if I find a pupil questioning me.

I've recognised one student from here, but he only had a couple of lessons. Shame really, as he made excellent progress, playing Grade 1 pieces in his second lesson, but instead he decided that he wanted to concentrate on his career, his family and his FRSM

Excellent strategy!
I have one adult pupil who apparently found me on here - the trouble is, half the posting I do on here is not particularly well behaved or sensible! I'm hoping he didn't read too many of my posts!

I will faint instantly if my piano teacher reads this forum.
Fortunately, she's so busy with her two sons that she rarely comes online.
I doubt she even knows the existance of ABRSM forums

i think if my teachers were on here, they would have recognised me from my name...but neither of them has ever mentioned it, so I assume they aren't on here...or are being very quiet about it!
