I did the Joint Course audition and interview yesterday - The last ones!

I had to do keyboard harmony at the uni though! I've never done chorales on paper so you can imagine my reaction when asked to play them!! The Audition at the RNCM went well, they told me I might have to play 3 pieces, but I managed 1 and a half and then the panel stopped me. They chatted and were very nice. The other people on the day seemed nice as well. My shoes gave me horrendous blisters though - As they say, no pain no gain and all that!

I got an email this afternoon though.... and they have made me an offer!!! smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif
I feel like everything that I've worried and stressed about for the past year is gone! Though the next task is to get 3 As! unsure.gif Maths in January! Uh-oh!!
Although.... less than 2 hours after getting that offer, Royal College rejected me - Coincidence?

Congrats!

Well done to you biggrin.gif

I share the same pain as regards to getting 3 As!
Kate
Thankyou! Will it be Durham for you then? Are you still awaiting Cambridge?

Well well well, You're 1 of the lucky 5 then! go you!

3 As? no problem! biggrin.gif You'll do it

Stuff the RCM, they don't know what they're missing! IMO they're quite bigheaded about themselves!

Well done smile.gif Good luck with the exams in Jan.

No relaxing Christmas for me, I need to catch up on the maths I missed for music practice! I don't mind about RCM really - It's like you, I have an offer from my first choice so I'm not so bothered! I just find it weird that as soon as the Joint course take me RCM reject me. Perhaps it's cos I told them it would be my first choice were I to get an offer!

I think so, I guess I'll get a Cambridge rejection.

You don't know until you know........
But hey, am I right in thinking you're quite enamoured with Durham anyway? Flute choir, Toasted sandwich bar and all......... and of course the history course.....

Congratulations! You must be thrilled. I know what you mean about the worry being over. I wish hadn't made myself so stressed as it wasn't worth it.

I have maths in January too (C3) but luckily it doesnt matter what grade I get! Still can't do intergration...

You are indeed! Plus the city is what I want - somewhere large enough to not be claustrophobic, but small enough that everywhere is easily accessible.

My mum had offers from Durham and Cambridge - she chose Cambridge, and if you do come in, come round for a meal. I can lay on transport if necessary. (And that invitation applies to all forumites who get into Cambridge University or are studying there PM me and I'll arrange something)

Durham is especially beautiful, and if you do hanker for the bright lights, Newcastle and Gateshead are just down the road.

And Kate study hard because that joint course is fantastic. The Northern is very highly regared. My friends who went on and did their post grads there all enjoyed it.

well done Kate and everyone else on your auditions and offers. I hope you're happy whatever you decide!

Thanks - I don't know what I'll choose, at the moment I am thinking Durham, but I am not known for my decision making ability.

Thanks for the invite!

Tey are both lovely places and I'm sure youll enjoy either. But remember if you're in Cambridge there's a forumite down the road who can help out if the going gets tough (alas not with the history, but by all means bounce ideas off me I didn't specialise in musicology for nothing!)

Hehe thanks!

Woooooo well done Kate!!! I bet Len is chuffed! Don't stress about the 3 As, just keep your head down and think of RNCM, you got the As at AS so carry on like that and you'll be fine. Where's your insurance going to be? Birmingham?

I think so... but there was something I didn't like about it there - can't put my finger on it. I'll have to work hard but I'm resitting C2 even though I got a mid-B because I could do with the extra marks so I can get something lower on C3. It is SOOO hard I agree, captivate.me! Len is happy - I told her in the middle of her Year 8 class though and she just nodded - she was doing the pacing thing where she refuses to shout so she just paces until they're quiet. She said at lunch that if she'd spoken to me then they'd not have finished their performance assessments!
