Does anyone know if it is possible to make large flashcards using Sibelius to help in the learning of rhythm patterns and note reading? Are there any other ways to make these? Ideas welcome.

There's a worksheet function in Sibelius, and I suppose that if you adjust the document settings, and make them large enough then you could could them out and use them as flash cards.

Someone I know publishes excellent laminated (non-shiny) rhythm flash cards - please let me know if you'd like details of how to contact him.

I bought an A4 laminator from Tesco some time ago and made lots of flashcards with a marker pen, ruler and white card. This way of making flashcards means that you get exactly what you want.

For rhythms on their own - without a stave or pitch you could use a music font - there is one called Rhythms, and you use it in a word processing package.

Just do an internet search - there are loads of music fonts available for free and then you can either increase the fond size or phototcopy large. You can also just print off large manuscript and draw in the notes. The good thing about producing them yourself is that you get exactly what you want and you can give the pupils some to take home if its on your computer!
